Lisbon recently played host to Tribeca Festival Lisboa, and the city was buzzing with creative energy. From October 30 to November 1, the festival brought filmmakers, storytellers, and audiences together for a few days of screenings, conversations, and live events that blended global and local perspectives in a really engaging way.

Big names like Kim Cattrall, Giancarlo Esposito, and Meg Ryan were part of this year’s lineup, joining panels and discussions that drew plenty of attention. The festival also expanded its footprint, adding new venues such as Teatro Ibérico and Convento do Beato, which gave the event more space — and Lisbon itself a stronger presence in the mix.

Here’s what stood out about this year’s edition:

  • More than film: In addition to movie screenings, the festival included podcasts, live storytelling, and creative sessions that made it feel fresh and wide-reaching.

  • A cultural connection: Lisbon felt like more than a backdrop — it was an active part of the experience, with local talent and international guests sharing the stage.

  • A growing reputation: Events like this continue to highlight Portugal as a welcoming, creative destination for artists and storytellers from around the world.

Even if you’re not in the film world, it’s easy to see how festivals like this contribute to Lisbon’s growing cultural identity. They spark collaboration, bring new voices to the city, and remind us how powerful storytelling can be when it crosses borders.

This blog shares updates and observations on Portugal’s creative scene, curated for filmmakers and storytellers — not industry commentary.
